Some Other Blogs I Reccomend

Hello readers,
Recently I have finished the book The Thief Lord.  I also have some other friends who read the book and I would like to give you a link to their blogs.  First, is Izzy's Learning Den. I think she did a great job separating her thinking to specific chapters. Second, is Zachs Learning Den.  I think he did a great job describing in his summary. Third, is Joey's Learning Den. I think he did a great job with his summary as well. Fourth, is Blaise's Learning Den.  I really like that he has a really long summary.

Another Book

Hello readers,
If you have read my most recent posts you know that I am done reading the book The Thief Lord.  I hope I get to read another amazing book like this.  I think this is a great book to read because of the adventure and magic.  I think that I would recommend this book to readers who like adventure and also love to read.  I hope you read this book to!

The Movie Compared to the Book

Hello readers,
Recently I have watched the movie The Thief Lord and I wanted to compare it to the book in this blog post.  First of all though, I would rather read the book more than watch the movie because if you read the book, you get to use your imagination where as the movie doesn't really let you use your imagination. In the book, Victor meets Ida but in the movie Ida already seems to know Victor.  Bo got "kidnapped" by Prosper in the movie though the book didn't say anything about Prosper "kidnapping" him.  There were a lot more differences, but I can't remember all of them.  Otherwise, the book and the movie were pretty similar.

They Trust Her?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 31 and 32 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 31, Hornet put Bo to sleep so that Prosper wouldn't be upset about Bo coming with them and Hornet didn't have to get sick from being on a boat.  Prosper, Riccio, Mosca, Scipio and Ida (Prosper, Hornet, Bo, Riccio, Mosca and Scipio tried to rob Ida to get the lion's wing for the carousel, but she found them and she wanted to come with them and follow the Conte so she could see the carousel.) had a talk. In chapter 32,  they visited the Conte while Ida stayed back to wait for the others so that they could spy on the Conte.  When the others came back, they climbed into Ida's boat and followed the Conte.

Why would Ida trust the kids who broke into her house? If I were Ida I would have just called the police.  Why do the kids trust Ida?  I wouldn't trust a person who was crazy enough to trust the people who broke into her house.

End of The Thief Lord

Hello readers,
Recently I have read the last chapter of the book The Thief Lord.  In the last chapter, Esther finds out that Barbarossa is a little thief. Victor hired Scipio as his assistant. Scipio visits the others every now and then. Scipio and Victor visit Ida, Prosper, Hornet and Bo often.  Barbarossa now calls himself Thief Lord.

I can't believe I already finished the book! I love this story and I wish it could go on longer.  I am going to see the movie sometime soon, so I might compare that to the book on one of my other posts.  I hope I get to inform you soon on the next book I am reading!

I Hope It Works

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 51 and 52 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 51,  Esther wanted to take Barbarossa around Venice because she thought he was just so sweet.  In chapter 52, Esther adopted Barbarossa.  Barbarossa told the others to look after his shop. Riccio and Mosca found a new hideout to stay in.  Victor ran into Scipio and they had a little chat.

When I am done reading this book I really want to watch the movie. Plus, I already checked it out from the library so I'm really excited. I think this book is a lot like Peter Pan.  I really hope you read the book.

What Are They Going To Do With Him?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 46 and 47 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 46, Scipio and Prosper took Barbarossa to Ida's house to stay while he didn't have a home to stay in. In chapter 47, Victor, Ida, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca found Prosper in Ida's kitchen while Bo was sleeping.

I love reading this book because I like the adventure, mystery and the little magic from the merry-go-round.  I like the adventure because it makes the book so exciting. I like the mystery because it reels me in.  I like the magic because it gives fantasy to the book.

Did He Even Think About It?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 44 and 45 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 44 Renzo (Renzo was the "Conte" and he had taken a ride on the merciful sisters' magical merry-go-round and became a young boy) showed Scipio and Prosper the merry-go-round and Scipio took a few rounds on it.  Then, Scipio was a grown up!  Then, Barbarossa broke onto the island, then, thinking that Scipio was Dottor Massimo, he took a ride on the merry-go-round, broke it and Barbarossa became a child.  In chapter 45, Barbarossa struggles to save himself from Renzo's angry dogs.

I don't understand why Barbarossa is so greedy, but I would understand that with his greediness, many people don't trust him. I am wondering if Prosper ever thought about Bo running away from Esther.  I think you should read the book and I hope I get to see the movie so that I can compare the two because usually movies that are based on the book aren't really the exact same.

She's Back!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 37 and 38 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 37,  Hornet got picked up by Victor and Ida.  In chapter 38,  Riccio found Prosper and brought him to Ida's house.

I think it's hard to believe that Ida and Victor were able to find and get Hornet from the orphanage because I never knew Ida could lie so well and especially to the people who took care of her when she was young.  I think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he did a great job describing in his summary.

What Will They Do?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 35 and 36 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 35, Prosper and Riccio suspected that Victor had told Prosper's aunt about the gang's hideout, but when Victor, Riccio, Prosper and Mosca listened to the message on Victor's answering machine, they found out that some old lady told on them.  In chapter 36,  Prosper, Riccio, Mosca and Victor took all of the things from the theater and came over to Ida's house so they wouldn't be caught by the police.  They all made a plan, Riccio find Prosper and Victor and Ida get Hornet from the orphanage.

I want to read the rest of this book. I think this book is awesome! I also think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he had an awesome summary.

They Got Caught!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 33 and 34 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 33, Mosca, Riccio and Prosper came home to find out that Hornet and Bo were missing, so they decided to go and see Victor because they thought Victor gave away their secret about the rundown theater. In chapter 34, Scipio found out about Hornet when h got home because the police had found out about the theater.  Hornet had whispered to Scipio that Bo was with his aunt.

I think that Victor had nothing to do with Hornet's and Bo's disappearance, but I don't know how the police would have found out about the movie theater though. I think you should read Joey's post because I think he did really well describing Ida Spavento's story.

Are They Mad At Him?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 23 and 24 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 23, Victor told the gang (Prosper, Bo, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca) that Scipio was lying to them and he told them to go to the Fondamenta Bollani number 223 for proof.  In chapter 24, the gang had taken a trip to the Fondamenta Bollani and discovered that Scipio as really lying to them.

Is the gang disappointed, mad or both?  I would be disappointed if I found out my friends were lying to me.  I think the gang are on there own now.  I don't think they would like to see Scipio anymore if Scipio told them a big lie.  I think you should read Zach's Blog because I think he did a great job with his summary.

They Are In Trouble

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 21 and 22 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 21, the gang (Prosper, Bo, Hornet, Scipio, Riccio and Mosca) tried to get information on the house they were going to break into while Riccio acted like a gentleman to the housekeeper, who let him carry her things into the house. In chapter 22, the gang went into their prisoner's (Victor's) apartment to feed the prisoner's turtle and then the phone rang.  While Hornet acted like Victor's associate, she found out it was Mrs. Hartlieb on the phone and the gang knew they were in trouble.

I really like the suspense in the story and all the mischief that the gang makes and how the gang works together. I like how they all seem to protect each other. I also think you should read Zach's Blog because I think Zach did a great job describing Victor's surprise attack.

They Caught Him!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 19 and 20 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 19, The gang (Bo, Prosper, Scipio, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca) captured Victor as he was investigating the movie theater where the kids stayed at. In chapter 20, Prosper had a talk with the gang's first prisoner, Victor.

I really like how the kids work together to get through life in Venice.  Here's a quote from the book, "By the time he sensed something moving between the folding seats, it was all ready too late. Suddenly five children were all over him."  I think this quote shows that the children took Victor by surprise and he didn't really suspect anything.  I also think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he does a great job explaining what he thinks about the characters.

Scipio is Rich?!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 17 and 18 of the book The Thief Lord. In chapter 17, Victor (the detective searching for Prosper and Bo) found out that the leader of the group of children who were together a lot, was named Scipio and Scipio's father was so rich he owned two movie theaters. In chapter 18, Scipio warned the others to leave because he knew Victor was coming to look around the theater.

Why did Scipio not tell his friends that his family was rich?  Why can't the children just hide from Victor?  Where will the children go?  Here is a quote from the book, "Hornet had to keep wiping tears from her face while she packed her favorite books into a plastic bag." I think this quote shows that he children don't want to leave the theater and worse they don't know what they're going to do.

Why Did He Accept?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 7, 8 and 9 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 7, Victor (a detective) had realized he had missed Prosper, who was one one of the two boys he was looking for. In chapter 8, Scipio (The Thief Lord) had accepted Barbarossa's request. In chapter 9, during the night Prosper told Hornet about what happened the day before, when the detective chased him and Riccio.

I think this book is great so far and I like how it switches off from Victor's search to the kids and then again from Victor's search and then the kids.  I also think this story is also like Peter Pan because Peter Pan has a group of kids who have run away from home and Victor is sort of like Captain Hook.  Here's a quote from the book, ''Once Victor realized Prosper had gotten away, he kicked the nearest wooden post he could find, sprained his foot - and then hobbled home." I think this quote shows that Victor is very determined to find Prosper and Bo, but he's not very patient. I also think you should read Joey's Blog. I think Joey did a great job describing Victor in his summary.

Victor Was So Close!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 4, 5 and 6 of the book The Thief Lord. In chapter 4, The Thief Lord had come to the old movie theater, where the children live to drop off a few things he had stolen.  In chapter 5, Prosper and Riccio took the things The Thief Lord had stolen and had gotten some money for it at a merchandise shop.  In chapter 6, as Riccio and Prosper made their way to the old movie theater they ran into Victor (If you read my first post about chapters 1, 2 and 3, you know that Victor was a detective looking for Prosper and Bo) and ran away.

I think this book is awesome because there is great description and suspense.  Here's a quote from the book, "The man was small and stocky.  A piece of cheese clung to his thick walrus mustache. He spun around angrily - and then stared at Prosper as if he had seen a ghost." I think this quote shows that  the book is being very descriptive and it gives me a picture in my mind of what the man looks like.  I also suggest you read Izzy's Learning Den because I think Izzy did a great job describing what she liked about the book.

Earth's Resources: Sunlight

I got the directions from the East Dragon Den.
I

The Thief Lord

Hello readers,
Recently I have been given a new book called The Thief Lord to read for Key Time.  I've read chapters 1, 2 and 3.  In chapter 1, a detective named Victor meets two people, a man and a lady who have lost two boys. The lady claimed that Prosper and Bo, the boys, had been told stories about Venice from their mother, who was the lady's sister. Victor accepted the search. In chapter 2 the boys weren't alone like the lady had said they were, they were with a girl who's nickname was Hornet.  Prosper and Bo had been through a lot to get to Venice, they have to find food, find shelter and sometimes they would even steal.  In chapter 3, the place where the boys are staying is run down and full of mice but it still works for them.

I think I'm really going to like this book because it's filled with adventure and mischief.  Here's a quote from the book, "I found it! I told you! A big bald man dropped it out of his pocket. He didn't even notice. And then I found it."  I think this quote shows that Bo likes to steal but he needs to get away with it somehow. I also suggest you read Izzy's Learning Den because I think she gives a great understanding of what the book The Thief Lord is about.
