Some Other Blogs I Reccomend

Hello readers,
Recently I have finished the book The Thief Lord.  I also have some other friends who read the book and I would like to give you a link to their blogs.  First, is Izzy's Learning Den. I think she did a great job separating her thinking to specific chapters. Second, is Zachs Learning Den.  I think he did a great job describing in his summary. Third, is Joey's Learning Den. I think he did a great job with his summary as well. Fourth, is Blaise's Learning Den.  I really like that he has a really long summary.

Another Book

Hello readers,
If you have read my most recent posts you know that I am done reading the book The Thief Lord.  I hope I get to read another amazing book like this.  I think this is a great book to read because of the adventure and magic.  I think that I would recommend this book to readers who like adventure and also love to read.  I hope you read this book to!

The Movie Compared to the Book

Hello readers,
Recently I have watched the movie The Thief Lord and I wanted to compare it to the book in this blog post.  First of all though, I would rather read the book more than watch the movie because if you read the book, you get to use your imagination where as the movie doesn't really let you use your imagination. In the book, Victor meets Ida but in the movie Ida already seems to know Victor.  Bo got "kidnapped" by Prosper in the movie though the book didn't say anything about Prosper "kidnapping" him.  There were a lot more differences, but I can't remember all of them.  Otherwise, the book and the movie were pretty similar.

They Trust Her?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 31 and 32 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 31, Hornet put Bo to sleep so that Prosper wouldn't be upset about Bo coming with them and Hornet didn't have to get sick from being on a boat.  Prosper, Riccio, Mosca, Scipio and Ida (Prosper, Hornet, Bo, Riccio, Mosca and Scipio tried to rob Ida to get the lion's wing for the carousel, but she found them and she wanted to come with them and follow the Conte so she could see the carousel.) had a talk. In chapter 32,  they visited the Conte while Ida stayed back to wait for the others so that they could spy on the Conte.  When the others came back, they climbed into Ida's boat and followed the Conte.

Why would Ida trust the kids who broke into her house? If I were Ida I would have just called the police.  Why do the kids trust Ida?  I wouldn't trust a person who was crazy enough to trust the people who broke into her house.

End of The Thief Lord

Hello readers,
Recently I have read the last chapter of the book The Thief Lord.  In the last chapter, Esther finds out that Barbarossa is a little thief. Victor hired Scipio as his assistant. Scipio visits the others every now and then. Scipio and Victor visit Ida, Prosper, Hornet and Bo often.  Barbarossa now calls himself Thief Lord.

I can't believe I already finished the book! I love this story and I wish it could go on longer.  I am going to see the movie sometime soon, so I might compare that to the book on one of my other posts.  I hope I get to inform you soon on the next book I am reading!

I Hope It Works

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 51 and 52 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 51,  Esther wanted to take Barbarossa around Venice because she thought he was just so sweet.  In chapter 52, Esther adopted Barbarossa.  Barbarossa told the others to look after his shop. Riccio and Mosca found a new hideout to stay in.  Victor ran into Scipio and they had a little chat.

When I am done reading this book I really want to watch the movie. Plus, I already checked it out from the library so I'm really excited. I think this book is a lot like Peter Pan.  I really hope you read the book.

What Are They Going To Do With Him?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 46 and 47 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 46, Scipio and Prosper took Barbarossa to Ida's house to stay while he didn't have a home to stay in. In chapter 47, Victor, Ida, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca found Prosper in Ida's kitchen while Bo was sleeping.

I love reading this book because I like the adventure, mystery and the little magic from the merry-go-round.  I like the adventure because it makes the book so exciting. I like the mystery because it reels me in.  I like the magic because it gives fantasy to the book.

Did He Even Think About It?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 44 and 45 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 44 Renzo (Renzo was the "Conte" and he had taken a ride on the merciful sisters' magical merry-go-round and became a young boy) showed Scipio and Prosper the merry-go-round and Scipio took a few rounds on it.  Then, Scipio was a grown up!  Then, Barbarossa broke onto the island, then, thinking that Scipio was Dottor Massimo, he took a ride on the merry-go-round, broke it and Barbarossa became a child.  In chapter 45, Barbarossa struggles to save himself from Renzo's angry dogs.

I don't understand why Barbarossa is so greedy, but I would understand that with his greediness, many people don't trust him. I am wondering if Prosper ever thought about Bo running away from Esther.  I think you should read the book and I hope I get to see the movie so that I can compare the two because usually movies that are based on the book aren't really the exact same.

She's Back!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 37 and 38 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 37,  Hornet got picked up by Victor and Ida.  In chapter 38,  Riccio found Prosper and brought him to Ida's house.

I think it's hard to believe that Ida and Victor were able to find and get Hornet from the orphanage because I never knew Ida could lie so well and especially to the people who took care of her when she was young.  I think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he did a great job describing in his summary.

What Will They Do?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 35 and 36 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 35, Prosper and Riccio suspected that Victor had told Prosper's aunt about the gang's hideout, but when Victor, Riccio, Prosper and Mosca listened to the message on Victor's answering machine, they found out that some old lady told on them.  In chapter 36,  Prosper, Riccio, Mosca and Victor took all of the things from the theater and came over to Ida's house so they wouldn't be caught by the police.  They all made a plan, Riccio find Prosper and Victor and Ida get Hornet from the orphanage.

I want to read the rest of this book. I think this book is awesome! I also think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he had an awesome summary.

They Got Caught!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 33 and 34 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 33, Mosca, Riccio and Prosper came home to find out that Hornet and Bo were missing, so they decided to go and see Victor because they thought Victor gave away their secret about the rundown theater. In chapter 34, Scipio found out about Hornet when h got home because the police had found out about the theater.  Hornet had whispered to Scipio that Bo was with his aunt.

I think that Victor had nothing to do with Hornet's and Bo's disappearance, but I don't know how the police would have found out about the movie theater though. I think you should read Joey's post because I think he did really well describing Ida Spavento's story.

Are They Mad At Him?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 23 and 24 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 23, Victor told the gang (Prosper, Bo, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca) that Scipio was lying to them and he told them to go to the Fondamenta Bollani number 223 for proof.  In chapter 24, the gang had taken a trip to the Fondamenta Bollani and discovered that Scipio as really lying to them.

Is the gang disappointed, mad or both?  I would be disappointed if I found out my friends were lying to me.  I think the gang are on there own now.  I don't think they would like to see Scipio anymore if Scipio told them a big lie.  I think you should read Zach's Blog because I think he did a great job with his summary.

They Are In Trouble

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 21 and 22 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 21, the gang (Prosper, Bo, Hornet, Scipio, Riccio and Mosca) tried to get information on the house they were going to break into while Riccio acted like a gentleman to the housekeeper, who let him carry her things into the house. In chapter 22, the gang went into their prisoner's (Victor's) apartment to feed the prisoner's turtle and then the phone rang.  While Hornet acted like Victor's associate, she found out it was Mrs. Hartlieb on the phone and the gang knew they were in trouble.

I really like the suspense in the story and all the mischief that the gang makes and how the gang works together. I like how they all seem to protect each other. I also think you should read Zach's Blog because I think Zach did a great job describing Victor's surprise attack.

They Caught Him!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 19 and 20 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 19, The gang (Bo, Prosper, Scipio, Hornet, Riccio and Mosca) captured Victor as he was investigating the movie theater where the kids stayed at. In chapter 20, Prosper had a talk with the gang's first prisoner, Victor.

I really like how the kids work together to get through life in Venice.  Here's a quote from the book, "By the time he sensed something moving between the folding seats, it was all ready too late. Suddenly five children were all over him."  I think this quote shows that the children took Victor by surprise and he didn't really suspect anything.  I also think you should read Joey's Blog because I think he does a great job explaining what he thinks about the characters.

About Weather

I got the directions from the East Dragon Den

Weather is the condition of the atmosphere at a specific time or place.   Weather changes because of high air pressure changing to low air pressure.  Wind is moving air.  Wind is caused by air pressure changing.

Scipio is Rich?!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 17 and 18 of the book The Thief Lord. In chapter 17, Victor (the detective searching for Prosper and Bo) found out that the leader of the group of children who were together a lot, was named Scipio and Scipio's father was so rich he owned two movie theaters. In chapter 18, Scipio warned the others to leave because he knew Victor was coming to look around the theater.

Why did Scipio not tell his friends that his family was rich?  Why can't the children just hide from Victor?  Where will the children go?  Here is a quote from the book, "Hornet had to keep wiping tears from her face while she packed her favorite books into a plastic bag." I think this quote shows that he children don't want to leave the theater and worse they don't know what they're going to do.

Why Did He Accept?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 7, 8 and 9 of the book The Thief Lord.  In chapter 7, Victor (a detective) had realized he had missed Prosper, who was one one of the two boys he was looking for. In chapter 8, Scipio (The Thief Lord) had accepted Barbarossa's request. In chapter 9, during the night Prosper told Hornet about what happened the day before, when the detective chased him and Riccio.

I think this book is great so far and I like how it switches off from Victor's search to the kids and then again from Victor's search and then the kids.  I also think this story is also like Peter Pan because Peter Pan has a group of kids who have run away from home and Victor is sort of like Captain Hook.  Here's a quote from the book, ''Once Victor realized Prosper had gotten away, he kicked the nearest wooden post he could find, sprained his foot - and then hobbled home." I think this quote shows that Victor is very determined to find Prosper and Bo, but he's not very patient. I also think you should read Joey's Blog. I think Joey did a great job describing Victor in his summary.

Victor Was So Close!

Hello readers,
Recently I have read chapters 4, 5 and 6 of the book The Thief Lord. In chapter 4, The Thief Lord had come to the old movie theater, where the children live to drop off a few things he had stolen.  In chapter 5, Prosper and Riccio took the things The Thief Lord had stolen and had gotten some money for it at a merchandise shop.  In chapter 6, as Riccio and Prosper made their way to the old movie theater they ran into Victor (If you read my first post about chapters 1, 2 and 3, you know that Victor was a detective looking for Prosper and Bo) and ran away.

I think this book is awesome because there is great description and suspense.  Here's a quote from the book, "The man was small and stocky.  A piece of cheese clung to his thick walrus mustache. He spun around angrily - and then stared at Prosper as if he had seen a ghost." I think this quote shows that  the book is being very descriptive and it gives me a picture in my mind of what the man looks like.  I also suggest you read Izzy's Learning Den because I think Izzy did a great job describing what she liked about the book.

The Thief Lord

Hello readers,
Recently I have been given a new book called The Thief Lord to read for Key Time.  I've read chapters 1, 2 and 3.  In chapter 1, a detective named Victor meets two people, a man and a lady who have lost two boys. The lady claimed that Prosper and Bo, the boys, had been told stories about Venice from their mother, who was the lady's sister. Victor accepted the search. In chapter 2 the boys weren't alone like the lady had said they were, they were with a girl who's nickname was Hornet.  Prosper and Bo had been through a lot to get to Venice, they have to find food, find shelter and sometimes they would even steal.  In chapter 3, the place where the boys are staying is run down and full of mice but it still works for them.

I think I'm really going to like this book because it's filled with adventure and mischief.  Here's a quote from the book, "I found it! I told you! A big bald man dropped it out of his pocket. He didn't even notice. And then I found it."  I think this quote shows that Bo likes to steal but he needs to get away with it somehow. I also suggest you read Izzy's Learning Den because I think she gives a great understanding of what the book The Thief Lord is about.

Sorry I Haven't Been on in a While

Hello readers,
Recently I have been doing worksheets instead of books in key time and that is why I have not been on in a while. My group and I had to do worksheets because we weren't doing enough blog posts for our books.  I think that after break I really want to read another book because I love to read, but I don't know if we deserve it.  I think it would be really cool to read another book.

Back To New York

Hello readers,
Recently I have read the last chapter of the book Peak.  Peak had gone back to New York and wanted to be at the twin's party.  When he got there the twins, his mom and Rolf came to greet him. Peak's mom and Peak had a talk in the kitchen, then Holly came in and talked to Peak for a bit.

I think Peak was actually happy to see Holly, though she had been a pain on the mountain. He was obviously happy to see the twins, mom and Rolf too. Here's a quote,  "The two Peas dropped their presents and threw their little arms around my thighs.  Mom was next, then Rolf." I think this quote shows that his family missed him a lot. I also suggest you read Joey's blog. I think he did a great job explaining the twins.

He's So In Trouble

Hello readers,
Recently I've read one more chapter of the book Peak. Peak was climbing back down the mountain with Yogi. By the time they got to camp four to see Zopa, Yogi and Peak ran into a soldier and Peak had to talk to Captain Shek who was clearly annoyed with Peak and Josh (Peak's dad).  After Peak's talk with Captain Shek, Josh called and had a talk with Peak.  Josh had said that they would see each other on Peak's way down.  When Yogi and Peak got to Zopa's tent they only found a note that was addressed to Peak! Peak was at ABC (Advanced Base Camp) when he ran into Josh.  Josh and Peak had a long talk and Peak told Josh that he was going to go home (back to New York).  Peak had gotten down to Base Camp when he and Captain Shek had a long talk plus Captain Shek took Peak's camera. on the way to Kathmandu, Peak and Yogi ran into Zopa who wasn't sick anymore.

Captain Shek must have been so angry at Peak whenever Peak started playing with him, I would be angry.  Here's a quote, "But you leave mountain!"  "What are you talking about?"I asked, enjoying myself immensely. "I'm up at Camp Four." I know that Peak dislikes Captain Shek. I think if Peak was enjoying himself, he was probably teasing Captain Shek. I also suggest Joey's blog because I think Joey gave a great description of his thoughts.

Why Couldn't He?

Hello readers,
Recently I've read one more chapter of the book Peak.  Peak was more desperate than Yogi, Yash and Sun-Jo so he started climbing faster up the mountain, but when he was ten feet away from the summit, he stopped and waited for Sun-Jo to go to the summit!

I don't know why Peak didn't go to the summit himself.  I understand Sun-Jo needed money for his family, but why couldn't Peak just let Sun-Jo borrow part of his money (Sun-Jo broke a record of the youngest climber to summit Everest when he got to the summit).  "Here's a quote from the book, Sun-Jo put his thick gloves together in the Buddhist way and bowed."Thank you Peak. I will not forget this." I think this quote shows Sun-Jo appreciates what Peak did

That's So Sneaky

Hello readers,
Recently I have read four more chapters of the book Peak.  Josh (Peak's dad) told Peak that he would have to leave the mountain because nobody wanted Peak there to climb with group A (Josh's group). Peak actually fell for it so when Peak had gotten into the truck with Zopa, he was surprised to get a note from Josh that said was going to be heading up the mountain on a "shortcut" that Zopa knew.  By the time the group (Peak, Zopa, Yogi, Yash and Sun-Jo) had gotten to camp four, Zopa had gotten sick. Peak, Sun-Jo, Yogi and Yash had to leave Zopa behind at camp four with only Yogi and Yash to help Sun-Jo and Peak.

I can't believe Josh would actually trick his own son.  It shouldn't be funny that was serious business plus also making it have to be on his own son.  Here's a quote from the book, "I stared at him in disbelief.  It wasn't a ploy."   I think this quote shows that Peak doesn't know a thing about what Josh is doing even though I think he should though.

Why So Angry?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read two more chapters of the book Peak.  Peak was walking with the sick climbers down to base camp where Josh (Peak's dad) found them.  Josh had come with Zopa! (Zopa had been arrested by Captain Shek) Peak asked Josh why Zopa was there and Josh told him that Zopa and Sun-Jo were able to escape Captain Shek.  When Peak had gotten down to base camp, he called his mom on the satellite phone. Josh had told the rest of group A (his group) that Peak was going to be trying for the summit with them. The following morning, when Peak was getting food from the Mess Tent (the tent where the climbers get food), Peak found out group A was having a private meeting because everyone on the team seemed angry about Peak's summit attempt and him having to go with them to get to the summit.

I don't see why they would be so angry with Peak coming along with them, he's just a kid.  What did Peak do wrong? maybe it's just they think he will slow down the group though.  Here's a quote, "Speak of the devil," the cowboy from Abilene drawled.  I think this quote shows that they don't like the idea of Peak coming along with them to the summit and they're taking it all out on Peak. I also suggest you read Blaise's blog. I think he did a great job with the summary.

That Many People?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read two more chapters of the book Peak. Peak had run into Captain Shek (Who is basically a problem to climbers on Everest) and Peak had lied to Captain Shek to save Sun-Jo.  When Zopa, Holly, Sun-Jo and Peak got to camp four, Peak's dad Josh, gave in a call that there were lots of people coming down the mountain because they were sick. Captain Shek had arrested Zopa and Josh got really angry.

I don't see why Captain Shek would arrest Zopa, what did Zopa do wrong? Why were there so many people sick? Don't climbers get to stay away from sick people so they don't get sick? Here's a quote from the book, "Just before dark five climbers (two Germans, three Italians) and their Sherpas stumbled into ABC looking like they had been buried alive." I think this quote shows these people are sick and there's a lot of them. I also suggest you read Zach's blog. I think Zach did a great  job of telling the summary.

He's Zopa's Grandson?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read two more chapters of the book Peak. Peak, Peak's dad, Holly, Zopa and a few other people had a secret meeting and Holly blurted out that Sun-Jo was Zopa's grandson.  Peak's dad said that they should hide Sun-Jo with the porters because they don't want Sun-Jo to be chipping a boulder down in the middle of the road like the other Tibetan slaves.

I don't know why Sun-Jo didn't just tell Peak that he was Zopa's grandson. I don't think people should keep secrets from their friends, but I think friends should be able to forgive their friends for their mistakes.  Here's a quote from the book: "He pulled me to the side."I appreciate you standing up for me last night," he said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Zopa" I think this quote shows that Sun-Jo wants Peak to forgive him. I also suggest  Izzy's Learning Den. Izzy is great at describing important characters of the book.

Earth's Resources: Plants

Hello readers. I am doing a science project from the East Dragon Den.
I learned that a conifer is a type of plant with needle-like leaves that uses cones to reproduce, an evergreen is a plant whose leaves or needles stay green during the winter and ferns are plants without flowers that use spores instead of seeds to reproduce and that grow in moist shady environments.  I also learned that a flower is a reproductive structure of a plant where fertilization takes place, a fruit is a plant structure that contains seeds and grows from a flowering plant and that a fuel is any material that can be used for energy. I also learned that omnivores are animals that eats plants as well as other animals, photosynthesis in the process when plants use sunlight to make food, a plant is an organism that is made of many cells, makes it's own food from photosynthesis and cannot move and that a seed is a plant structure that contains a young plant, food supply and protective coat. I learned that we use many resources including renewable resources and nonrenewable resources. we can run out of our natural resources if we are not careful, that is why we should conserve. I had to answer three essential questions:
1. Why do we consider plants and forests as renewable resources?   My answer:  We consider plants and trees renewable resources because we can grow back trees and plants.
2. What are some uses of harvested plants?  My answer: Some uses of harvested plants are clothing, food and shelter.
3. Why is conservation of trees and forests important?  My answer:  Conservation of trees and forests is important because if we don't conserve our trees and forests then we could lose all of our resources and die.
Here is a list of renewable resources:
  • freshwater
  • trees
  • plants
  • saltwater
  • clay

How Can He Survive?

Hello readers,
Recently I have read the rest of Peak up to Moleskin #2.  So now that I'm in about the middle of the story, this is where it has gotten really interesting.  Peak has been climbing up the mountain trying to reach ABC (Advanced Base Camp). Holly was up the mountain with Zopa usually earlier than Peak because it was hard for her to climb.  Peak had a sore throat and it was extremely hard to talk for him. Sun-Jo got so sick he puked many times during the night.

I don't see how Peak was able to survive the climb.  If I was climbing Everest I would've already given up. Here's a quote:  "You don't look to well." he said "I don't feel to well." I croaked back. I think this quote shows that Peak knew he was sick and other people can tell by looks. I suggest you read Izzy's blog because I think she gave a great explanation of Zopa and Sun-Jo, some of the most important characters in this book.

She's Strange

Hello readers,
Recently I have read up to page 97 in the book Peak.  Peak has gotten himself up to base camp with Sun-Jo, Zopa and some Sherpas.  Peak's dad was expecting an annoying reporter named Holly, to come to the camp and climb to the summit.  All Peak's dad wanted from Holly was for her to shut up about Peak.

In the book Peak had said it was annoying to listen to her and he was glad when she started gasping for breath because then he could give his ears a break.  If her voice is really that bad and Peak's dad doesn't want her on the trip then she must really have a big mouth. Quote from the book:"I hadn't heard it in fifteen years, but I'd recognize it anywhere. Kind of like fingernails scraping on a chalkboard."   This shows that Josh doesn't really enjoy Holly's voice.

What's Up With Zopa?

Hello readers,
Recently I just read a few more pages of the book Peak.  Peak was with his dad and Peak's dad had told him he was going to be staying at a hotel by himself until a guy named Zopa would pick Peak up from the hotel. When Zopa's helper Sun-Jo, came by to pick up Peak, Peak cleaned up everything in his hotel room and they both left the hotel on Sun-Jo's motorcycle.  They met Zopa at the temple and then had to leave again. When Sun-Jo and Peak arrived at the hotel again, Zopa was already there! Sun-Jo told Peak tat he would get used to it. After that Zopa, Peak and Sun-Jo went to get some climbing gear for Peak.

I think it's weird how Peak's dad would just leave him for Zopa to take care of.  Peak is his son.

Ready, Set, Debate

Dear readers,
I just read the article "To Young To Run?" by Scholastic News.  This article discusses about how people disagree about if kids should run marathons or not.
I believe kids are still healthy when they run the marathons. "Heather and Kaytlynn Welsch are regularly checked with their own doctors, who say they're in good health."(page 4) I also feel that kids have goals of running.  "Kaytlynn and Heather say their goal is to run in the Olympics one day." (page 4) My last reason is that some kids like to run.  "The Welsch sisters say it's unfair to criticize them, especially when many kids rarely exercise at all."(page 5)
Some may argue that sometimes kids running marathons could be dangerous, I would tell them that many kids get healthier when they run. Some might also believe that some kids don't like to run, and I would say kid shouldn't be forced to run.  They may also say that some kids are pushing to far in running, but I would tell them that kids should try to met their goals and that includes challenging themselves to push more.
All in all I think kids should be able to run in marathons.

The New Book

Hello readers, on Monday I started to read a new book in key time called Peak.  Peak is about a boy named Peak who has parents who used to both be rock climbers, or rock rats.  Peak's mom had fallen and broke many bones so she had never climbed again. Peak's dad gave Peak the love to climb, but all Peak has in New York is skyscrapers to climb and so Peak did that.  Luckily, Peak was able to get out of court but he had to stay out of New York for three years and stay with his dad. Peak's dad is going to have Peak climb Everest.

I think it's a bit too much for Peak to climb skyscrapers, but Everest?! What will happen to Peak if he falls?

End Of Divergent

Dear readers,
Last night I read the last chapter of the book Divergent.  Tobias was in a simulation, but in fact he was Divergent and he was able to fight the simulation.  Now Tris is on her way to Amity headquarters with Tobias, Marcus (Tobias' father), Peter and Caleb (Tris' brother).

Why did it leave me hanging?  I don't know what happens next unless I read the next book.  I hope that I do get to read the next book.  I love that this book challenges me and makes me want to read more.  I love to read and I would suggest this book to people who like danger and suspense.

Robotic Human Zombie Soldiers?!

Hello Readers,
Recently I just read chapter 32-34 of the book Divergent.  All the Dauntless had been injected with a special serum.  Eric had said the serum could locate you.  Eric had lied though, the serum took control of the Dauntless' minds.  The next morning all of the Dauntless were robotic human zombie soldiers working for the Erudite to kill all of the Abnegation, everyone accept Tris and Tobias.  Eric was jealous of Tobias so he wanted to make a joke of killing Tobias. Tris couldn't let him do that so she shot Eric's foot.  Tobias and Tris had to run away because they were found out.

I think it's strange that Erudite has to take over the Dauntless.  If they are so smart, why don't they think up something with their own minds instead of taking control of other people's minds?

Why Don't They Get Along?

Recently, I have read chapters 28-31 of the book Divergent.  Tris had gone to Erudite headquarters to talk to her brother Caleb.  Caleb seemed nervous and made it seem hard to speak to Tris.  After that Jeanine had a big talk with Tris and seemed like she was trying to do something to Tris.  Eric was waiting for Tris when she came back, he started yelling like he was mad because he was.  Tobias had come in and he took Tris away from Eric.  Tris and Tobias went over to the Erudite headquarters and they talked alone. Tobias was suspicious that Erudite were planning war on Abnegation and they would be using Dauntless to help them.

I wonder why Erudite and Abnegation don't get along.  They're in the same city, so why not?

Why is He Acting Like This?

In chapter 26 and 27 of Divergent,  Tris and Tobias (Four) went down by the chasm and had a small talk.  Tobias kissed Tris two times.  The next morning Tris couldn't help but smile, but after going through one of Lauren's (Dauntless born initiates instructor) fears in her fear landscape, Tris gets humiliated by Tobias and she slapped him very hard.

I wonder if Tobias was trying to help Tris or to just make fun of her.  When Tris slapped Tobias, I wonder what he felt like.

Every Soul a Star

Dear Readers,

Citation
I recently finished the book, Every Soul a Star, by Wendy Mass.  Every Soul a Star is about three teenagers who unexpectedly met each other and become great friends.  Ally loves nature and she has to move to the city instead of staying at the campground that her family owns. Bree is popular and beautiful but when she has to move to a campground she'll be missing out on things with her friend.  Jack is overweight, likes to draw in the back of the classroom and has to go on a camping trip with his science teacher, Mr. Silver for two weeks to get out of summer school.  I would recommend this book to anybody who likes books with stories that all connect and go from the different characters points of views. Thanks for reading!

Why Can Tris Handle it and Four Not?

In Chapter twenty- five Tris went through Four's fear landscape with Four. Four seemed to be freaking out a lot but Tris was able to help him through without herself freaking out. Four has four fears so that's why they call him Four.  Tris found out that Four's real name was Tobias and that he was from Abnegation just like Tris.

Why does Tris just do Four's fear landscape calmly? Four had four fears but how many fears does Tris have?

He Seems so Serious

In chapter 24 of the book Divergent Tris found out that Al had throne himself over the chasm and had killed himself. Tris wanted to be alone so she went over to the drinking fountain to get a drink. Four found her over there and together they had a serious talk about how the leaders are after Tris because they think she's Divergent.

I wonder why Four would know it's bad for her to be Divergent why would Four care at all?

This Was Very Scary

Recently I have read chapter 21 of Divergent.  Tris got first ranking for stage two of initiation and before, the last person who got first ranking in stage one, got attacked. Sure enough Tris got attacked by three people, Al, Peter and Drew.  Luckily Tris got saved by Four.

I think it's strange that Al would attack Tris.  Before in the book Al told Tris he liked her.  He seemed kindhearted, like he would never hurt anybody.

How Does He Know?

Recently I just read chapter 20 of the book Divergent and Tris had a simulation. In the simulation Tris broke the glass which then showed that she is Divergent.  After a talk with Four,  Tris went to see Tori to ask her about why being Divergent is dangerous.  Tori told all she knew then left.

I think it's strange that Four knew that breaking the glass was an act of being Divergent. How could it be?  How did Four know? Was he Divergent?

These are Some Strange People

In Divergent, Tris just got a simulation and in the simulation she got attacked by crows.  Then when she went back to the dormitory Peter as reading a news paper about the faction Abnegation from Erudite.  The Erudite and Abnegation are enemies and Abnegation is Tris' former faction.  Will had to pull Tris out of the room so he wouldn't attack anybody.

Why would somebody make fun of somebody else?  I think that's very rude. Tris seemed very mad when she tried to attack Molly.  Luckily, Will got her in time.

Some of These People are Crazy!

Just recently I read chapter 17 of Divergent and before somebody had stabbed Edward in the eye.  Everyone seemed depressed that Edward and Myra left because it was such a horrible event.  Tris wanted to get her mind off of it, so she went with the Dauntless-born initiates and climbed up to the roof of a building and zip-lined down super fast to the ground.

I seriously think some of these people are crazy.  Why would somebody stab somebody else in the eye?  Maybe it was jealousy.  The zip line seems crazy to though.  The people in this book are extremely Dauntless.

The Factionless

A faction is a group of people who act the same, where the same clothes and  do the same things.  But sometimes people are factionless.   The factionless people are people who don't have a faction.  they live on the streets and they don't have jobs.  Their main jobs are cleaning up the streets and doing that kind of thing.  I think I'd rather be dead than factionless.  Even though Tris is suffering in Dauntless I think The factionless are suffering more.

What I Think About the Book Divergent

Tris, the main character has just been in a fight with Peter and she lost.  She's having a hard time in the faction she chose.  But, she is also divergent which is supposedly dangerous.  Tris has to make different decisions then she did in Abnegation. Divergent means that you are a mix of factions, but I don't know how it is dangerous.

I think she's still more beat up from the fight then she thinks.  Here's a quote from the book, " I unbutton my shirt and stare at my bare side, which is patched with bruises."I think this book is great at describing the character's feeling and what she's doing.  Al, Will, Christina and Tris seem to act together almost as if their friends. Please comment!

Summary of What I've Read So Far

So far Tris has not been in a fight yet but, today she has to fight with Peter.  When Tris was in the arena Tris got beat up a lot.  Tris had a black eye and lots of other bad things that happened to her.  The next thing Tris knew she was by the nurse's room with all of her friends starring at her.  Christina was holding an ice pack to her jaw and it was almost dinner time.

The author did great telling how it happened and used the senses to describe how Tris felt.  It must have hurt to be beat up.  She seems to be almost weak compared to most of the other transfers.

I Would Suggest This Blogger Too

Today I read Zach's post and it's about the book Divergent.   I thought something familiar when he said the book was thick and probably going to take a while reading the whole book.

Here's a quote from the book,  " No, she doesn't" Al says " She did what you said.  She's not a coward. She did what you said." I chose this quote because it shows this person has feelings for this other person and he's soft hearted.  He seems to not like to see people get hurt.

Divergent Summary

I think this book is great so far. The main character's name is Beatrice and she has changed her faction an moved to Dauntless.  When Beatrice moved to Dauntless she also changed her name to Tris.  Tris also had a tour of where the Dauntless live.  After that she went to dinner and sat with her new friend and sat with one of the leaders named Four.  Then Tris had some training for Dauntless.  She had to fight and shoot a gun at a target.  After that when everybody had a break, Tris went to go get a tattoo of three flying birds.

I think this book would be good for people who like an adventure and who like funny parts.  I think the author did great on  making you want to read on. I really don't know how I would change the book. This book is already one of my favorites and I can't wait to read on. Thanks for reading!

Here's a quote from the book, " I am selfish, I am brave."

FQR (fact, question, response)

I noticed that each faction in the book has different actions and traits. Every person in one faction wears the same color clothes, wears there clothes the same way and sometimes have the same culture.  I wonder why each person in a faction has to do things the same as everybody else in their factions.   I believe I would fit in with amity.

Here's a quote from the book, " The tests don't have to change our choices."

Divergent

1. In the plan I like that we are all split up into different groups that are reading at about the same level.
2. So far in the book Beatrice is taking a test to see what faction she will belong to. Her brother had taken the test before her and when he had come back after he was finished, he was all pale and white. So I think when Beatrice is done taking the test she will be as scared as her brother looked.
3. I like this book because it shows of how Beatrice's life is in her faction and show how hard it is to choose.
4. I like that the author made me cling onto the book to make me want to read more, the author made the story intense and I just kept wanting to read more.

Here's a quote from the book, " My gaze drifts from Susan to the dauntless table."
